The Daily Journal — The Venezuelan Medical Federation (FMV) has urged the national government to take immediate action as a highly lethal disease spreads rapidly and claims several lives in the states of Barinas and Anzoátegui.
In a statement signed by FMV President Douglas León Natera and Secretary General Rafael Belmonte, the federation’s leadership endorsed earlier warnings from the Barinas State Medical Association and expressed deep concern over the severity of the outbreak.
The organization described the illness as a widespread clinical condition that causes high fever, hemorrhagic symptoms, and severe respiratory complications. The disease rapidly triggers acute cardiorespiratory failure and kills patients within a short period.
