The Daily Journal.- A Venezuelan delegation led by Hydrocarbons Minister Paula Henao will attend the G20 energy summit in Houston, Texas, at the invitation of the Trump administration.
PDVSA Executive Vice President Jovanny Martínez will also attend the meeting, which will bring together energy ministers from the world’s leading economic powers. The delegation will participate in bilateral meetings and side events, a White House official confirmed.
Venezuela will take part in the G20 energy summit despite not ranking among the world’s 20 largest economies. Caracas’ inclusion represents a politically significant move that gives the country greater visibility, access and diplomatic influence at a major international energy forum, according to a Bloomberg report.
The ministerial meeting will focus on energy security, abundance and access. Houston, widely regarded as the energy capital of the world, will also host oil and mining companies for talks on potential business opportunities in Venezuela.
