The Daily Journal.— National Assembly President Jorge Rodríguez updated the official assessment of the damage caused by the powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24. He reported 920 confirmed deaths, 3,360 people injured or otherwise affected, and more than 4,000 people displaced.

La Guaira state has suffered the most extensive material damage. Authorities have identified 383 residential buildings with total or severe structural damage. Officials also reported damage to three hospitals, 25 shopping centers, and 1,002 additional public and private structures.

Given the scale of the disaster, Rodríguez urged the public to avoid traveling to La Guaira. He stressed that authorities must keep public roads clear to prevent traffic congestion, ensure the rapid transport of injured people, and allow rescue and emergency response teams to move without delay.
