The Daily Journal. — The Venezuelan-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VenAmCham) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen institutional cooperation, encourage responsible investment, and expand private-sector participation in economic and social development initiatives across Venezuela.
The agreement establishes a collaborative framework to connect VenAmCham’s member companies with high-impact projects led by UNDP. These initiatives will focus on early recovery, the reconstruction of social infrastructure, and stronger community resilience.
During the signing ceremony, VenAmCham President Amaru Liendo said the partnership goes beyond institutional cooperation.
“This agreement not only strengthens our institutional relationship but also brings to life a shared vision of the importance of building strong partnerships between the business community and multilateral development organizations,” he said.
Liendo also emphasized the role the private sector can play in addressing Venezuela’s development challenges through innovation, job creation, and the mobilization of technical and operational expertise.
“The most complex challenges require shared efforts. When institutions with complementary goals combine their capabilities, they create greater opportunities to achieve meaningful and lasting results,” he added.
According to VenAmCham, the memorandum will allow its member companies to participate more directly in UNDP initiatives, channeling resources and expertise into projects that support social recovery and strengthen vulnerable communities.
The agreement also coincides with the launch of VenAmCham’s Investment, Trade, and Competitiveness Center, an initiative designed to enhance business competitiveness, promote sustainability, provide comprehensive support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), and encourage dialogue between the public and private sectors.
