The Daily Journal.— U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy Kyle Haustveit revealed that the United States currently receives more than 500,000 barrels of oil per day from Venezuela, representing nearly 50% of the South American country’s total production.
“In recent months, we have seen more than 500,000 barrels, roughly half of Venezuelan production, exported to the United States to refineries built specifically for that crude,” Haustveit said during an event in Houston.
He also noted that Venezuela’s total production currently stands at around 1.25 million barrels per day.
Shipments exceed 500,000 barrels per day (bpd) and go directly to U.S. refineries specifically designed to process Venezuela’s heavy crude.

The U.S. official highlighted Venezuela’s progress and operational improvements, emphasizing that the Washington administration will respect the “sanctity of contracts” and uphold the commercial agreements signed in the energy sector.
This trade dynamic reflects a significant political and economic realignment between the two countries, strengthening Venezuela’s position amid strong demand for hydrocarbons in the U.S. market.
