The Daily Journal. — Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodríguez said Monday that Caracas is negotiating more than 30 new cooperation agreements with Vietnam in areas including energy, agriculture, telecommunications and culture.
Rodríguez said the two countries maintain an extensive bilateral agenda, with dozens of agreements already in effect and new instruments currently under negotiation.
“We have a broad range of agreements, 51 of which are currently in effect, and we are already negotiating more than 30 additional agreements,” she said during a ceremony honoring Vietnam’s outgoing ambassador to Caracas, Vu Trung My.
Rodríguez highlighted the longstanding relationship between Venezuela and Vietnam and praised the diplomat’s work during his more than three years of service in the country.
According to Rodríguez, Vu Trung My “strengthened the bonds of friendship, cooperation and closeness” between the governments of both nations, as well as between their respective parliaments and political organizations.
During the ceremony, the Venezuelan government presented the Vietnamese ambassador with the Order of Francisco de Miranda. This honor recognizes Venezuelan and foreign citizens for distinguished service and contributions in areas related to science, progress, and other noteworthy achievements.
The negotiations for new agreements aim to expand a bilateral relationship that already includes 51 agreements currently in effect, with particular emphasis on strategic sectors such as energy and telecommunications. The acting president announced the negotiations during the official farewell ceremony for the Vietnamese diplomatic representative.
