The Daily Journal – Acting President Delcy Rodríguez received Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley at Miraflores Palace to advance bilateral proposals focused on agricultural production and energy projects.
The meeting included Sectoral Vice President for Social and Territorial Socialism Héctor Rodríguez; Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia; Minister of Productive Agriculture and Lands Vladimir Padrino López; Tourism Minister Daniella Cabello; Hydrocarbons Minister Paula Henao; Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister Juan Carlos Loyo; and Transport Minister Francisco Garcés.
Representing Barbados, Foreign Minister Christopher P. Sinckler attended the meeting alongside Barbados’ Ambassador to Venezuela Aquinas J. Clarke and Brigadier General Carlos Lovell, Chief of Staff of the Barbados Defense Force.
The talks focused on advancing bilateral projects previously proposed by past administrations. The agenda included joint agricultural production, the potential development of joint energy projects, increased flight frequencies between the two countries, and stronger maritime trade and tourism ties.
The two leaders also reviewed cooperation initiatives in community development and healthcare. In this area, they highlighted the Field Medical Hospital that Venezuela deployed in Miranda state following the earthquakes that struck on June 24 as part of emergency relief efforts.
The meeting forms part of an ongoing agenda through which both governments seek to expand economic and logistical ties across the Caribbean region.
