The Daily Journal.- Acting President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, announced this Tuesday the signing of two executive decrees aimed at carrying out a reengineering of the governmental structure and optimizing the financial performance of the National Public Administration. The measure was formally announced during a session of the Council of Ministers at Miraflores Palace.
To coordinate this institutional reform process, the president delegated leadership of the commissions to two members of her executive team: the sectoral vice president for Social and Territorial Socialism, Héctor Rodríguez, and the Minister of Economy and Finance, Anabel Pereira.
90 Days to Present an Institutional Structure Proposal
The first decree appoints Education Minister Héctor Rodríguez to lead the review of ministries and state agencies. According to the acting head of the Executive Branch, the restructuring plan will be developed together with the sectoral vice presidency for Planning, led by Ricardo Menéndez, with the goal of adapting the state bureaucracy to the current political and social landscape.
“I am appointing Sectoral Vice President Héctor Rodríguez as Presidential Commissioner for the restructuring and reengineering of the government; a new government structure adapted to this new reality of Venezuela, to a Venezuela that is reborn, reborn from its identity, reborn from its liberating history, a Venezuela seeking its own path toward the happiness of the people,” Delcy Rodríguez explained during her address.
The acting president established a strict deadline for the delivery of the technical results of this organizational audit:
“He will carry out this work together with the sectoral vice president for planning, who is a scholar in this field; and within a period of 90 days they will present to this Council of Ministers a conclusive report on what the restructuring and new reengineering of the government should be.”
Financial Focus for Public Efficiency
The second presidential decree is aimed at monitoring and optimizing public resources.
For this purpose, Minister of Economy and Finance Anabel Pereira will assume the role of “Presidential Commissioner for the Efficient Management of the National Government.”
“The administrative and financial foundation is essential for efficient management, so with the perspective of the Minister of Economy and Finance, I am confident that we will give a new boost to governmental efficiency,” the president added.
