The Daily Journal.- Petroquímica de Venezuela (Pequiven) completed the export of 30,000 metric tons of fertilizers to the United States through XTS Commodities, a subsidiary of U.S.-based Xtellus Partners, according to John Barrett, the U.S. chargé d’affaires in Caracas.
“It was excellent to see the export of 30,000 metric tons of Pequiven fertilizers to the United States through the American company XTS Commodities come to fruition,” Barrett wrote in a post on the social media platform X.
The diplomat said the shipment would help supply essential agricultural inputs to American farmers and highlighted the revival of trade between the two countries.
“We continue to strengthen bilateral trade and Venezuela’s economic recovery under the three-phase plan” of U.S. President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, he added.
The transaction marks another step in efforts to expand trade relations between Caracas and Washington, as both countries ease restrictions and resume business activities in strategic sectors of Venezuela’s economy.
On September 28, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued General License 46E, allowing U.S. companies to conduct ordinary activities necessary to extract, export, reexport, refine, market, transport, and sell Venezuelan-origin oil and petrochemical products in the United States.
