Delcy Rodríguez declares seven days of national mourning

The Daily Journal.— The Venezuelan government has officially declared seven consecutive days of National Mourning following the loss of life caused by the devastating earthquakes.

Delcy Rodríguez announced the measure in an official statement published on her social media accounts. According to the statement, the death toll has reached 1,943, while the number of injured has surpassed 10,000.

Under the official decree, the nationwide period of mourning takes effect at 6:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 1, 2026, and applies throughout Venezuela.

The government adopted the measure to pay an institutional and national tribute to the memory of those who lost their lives in the natural disaster.
