The Daily Journal — U.S. President Donald Trump praised Chevron’s return to Venezuela and said the American oil company now operates in the country “much bigger and stronger than ever,” with expectations of generating substantial profits. He credited his administration’s policies for the company’s performance.

“They threw Mike and Chevron out of Venezuela, but now they’re back, much bigger and stronger than ever, expecting to make a fortune,” Trump wrote Monday on his Truth Social platform, referring to Chevron Chairman and CEO Mike Wirth.

Trump made the remarks after criticizing an interview Wirth gave to journalist Maria Bartiromo. According to the president, the executive explained Chevron’s strong performance without acknowledging the role of the White House.

“The only thing he conveniently forgot to mention is that, without the genius, foresight, strength, and stability of the Trump Administration, the oil industry—and our own country—would be DEAD,” Trump wrote.

Chevron’s joint ventures in Venezuela currently produce about 280,000 barrels per day, according to recent statements from the company’s Chief Financial Officer, Eimear Bonner.

Bonner also announced that the company expects production to increase by 15% over the next 24 months.

Trump also addressed other oil companies, urging them to lower the prices American consumers pay for fuel.

“That also goes for the other oil companies… lower your oil prices for consumers (retail), NOW!” he wrote.

Trump issued the demand as fuel prices continue to rise across the United States while major oil companies report strong profits.
