The Daily Journal – The Venezuelan government held a strategic working session in Caracas with representatives of the African Energy Chamber (AEC) to explore joint investment opportunities and strengthen the country’s oil and natural gas industry.
Acting President Delcy Rodríguez led the meeting alongside Minister of Hydrocarbons Paula Henao and PDVSA President Héctor Obregón. NJ Ayuk, President of the African Energy Chamber, headed the international delegation together with other senior officials from the organization.
According to Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), the bilateral agenda focused on developing technical and commercial cooperation mechanisms based on equitable exchange, complementarity, and comprehensive development.
During the meeting, both delegations examined strategic initiatives aimed at attracting international investment and expanding operational and production capacity in Venezuela’s oil and natural gas fields.
Venezuela holds the world’s largest proven crude oil reserves, estimated at approximately 303 billion barrels. Most of those reserves lie in the Orinoco Belt and consist of extra-heavy crude, whose extraction, transportation, and processing require specialized technical expertise and substantial investment.
