The Daily Journal.- Venezuela’s acting government submitted the national budget, borrowing, and operating plan proposals for fiscal year 2027 to the National Assembly on Wednesday.
Sectoral Vice President for Planning Ricardo Menéndez presented the documents to Pedro Infante, the National Assembly’s first vice president and a member of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).
The submission includes the 2027 National Budget Bill, the National Annual Operating Plan, and the Republic’s Annual Borrowing Bill.
Menéndez said the government submitted the proposals by the constitutional deadline of October 15 and explained that the documents set priorities for allocating public resources.
According to the official, the proposed budget focuses on three main areas: restoring household incomes and purchasing power, investing in public services and infrastructure, and strengthening the productive economy.
The Executive Branch also linked the budget proposal to the so-called Concrete Action Agenda, a methodology that, according to Menéndez, integrates community demands into government policies, particularly regarding water, electricity, and food supplies.
Meanwhile, Infante said the National Assembly’s standing committees on Economy, Finance, and Social Development, chaired by lawmaker Jesús Faría, and Oversight, headed by Winston Vallenilla, will review and discuss the proposals.
The lawmaker stated that the government would direct budget resources toward restoring social welfare, improving household incomes, and raising living standards. He also highlighted Venezuela’s economic growth, which he said has continued for more than 22 consecutive quarters.
The information released about the submission did not disclose the total amount of the proposed 2027 budget or provide details on funding sources, projected revenues, or the borrowing limit outlined in the documents.
