Julio A. López, Editor-in-Chief.— U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) reported that Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey aircraft transported an Argentine urban search and rescue team (USAR) this Saturday to the areas most affected by the earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24.

According to information released by SOUTHCOM, the operation is part of the humanitarian response coordinated by the U.S. Government to support rescue efforts and assist victims of the disaster.

The command stated that U.S. military forces assigned to the mission support aid operations led by the U.S. Department of State, facilitating the transport of specialized personnel, equipment, and essential resources to areas where teams continue to locate survivors and assist the affected population.

The transport of the Argentine team aboard the MV-22 Osprey vertical takeoff and landing aircraft allows rapid access to areas where road infrastructure suffered severe damage, accelerating the deployment of rescuers to the areas of greatest need.

The joint participation of the United States and Argentina reflects growing international cooperation to address the humanitarian emergency in Venezuela, where search-and-rescue operations continue, and assistance is being provided to thousands of people affected by the devastating earthquakes.
