The Daily Journal. — Venezuelan authorities have launched a digital platform to help families locate people reported missing or transferred to medical facilities after the earthquakes that struck on June 24, National Assembly President Jorge Rodríguez announced on Sunday.

During an emergency briefing, Rodríguez explained that relatives can now check whether a missing person is receiving treatment at any healthcare facility across the country through an online search system.

“For families searching for a missing loved one, we have made the following website available,” Rodríguez said while introducing the platform.

Families can access the Localiza Pacientes platform by completing a form with the person’s first name, last name, or national identification number.

“People simply access the website, complete the corresponding form, and we can tell them whether that person is receiving care at any healthcare institution anywhere in the country,” Rodríguez explained.

Rodríguez also said that search-and-rescue teams continue working in the areas hardest hit by the earthquakes in an effort to find survivors trapped beneath collapsed buildings.

“We continue our relentless search for survivors amid the devastation these events have caused,” he said.

The government official also reported that seismic activity has remained intense since the main earthquake on June 24.

“In addition to the two devastating earthquakes that struck almost simultaneously on June 24, we have recorded 512 aftershocks,” Rodríguez stated.

Authorities continue rescue operations while also assisting the families of victims and missing persons as search efforts move forward across the states affected by the disaster.
