The Daily Journal — Venezuela’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced, in an official statement, the start of a gradual process to restore bilateral relations with Peru.
“In the first stage, both countries have agreed to reactivate consular relations as the initial step toward the full restoration of bilateral ties,” the statement said.
The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry explained that the measure seeks “to immediately ensure protection and consular services for nationals residing in both sister countries.”
Caracas said the renewed engagement reflects a broader effort to strengthen regional integration rooted in the two nations’ diplomatic history. “This firm commitment to cooperation and integration between our countries draws strength from the historic bonds of friendship and Latin American solidarity that have united Peru and Venezuela since their founding as republics,” the statement added.
The declaration concluded by emphasizing that these longstanding ties “inspire our joint efforts to promote the development and well-being of our peoples and our region.”
