Official update: 2,645 deaths confirmed after the June 24 earthquakes

The Daily Journal.— Venezuela’s Ministry of People’s Power for Communication and Information released a new official report on Friday detailing the extent of the damage, humanitarian assistance, and rescue operations carried out across the country following the June 24 earthquakes. According to the institutional report, authorities have confirmed 2,645 fatalities, while the number of injured has risen to 12,666.

Rescue and emergency teams have saved 6,462 people alive from collapsed structures.

Technical inspections have identified 885 damaged buildings and 189 buildings that completely collapsed. As a result, 15,050 people have lost their homes and are now relocating to temporary camps. To address the emergency, authorities have opened 59 temporary shelters. Officials have also recorded 890 aftershocks since the earthquakes struck on June 24.

The national government has assisted 86,117 families in affected areas by continuously delivering essential supplies and drinking water at collection centers.

According to the report, the logistical operation has distributed 9,486 metric tons of food supplies, delivered 78,478 food packages directly to communities, and supplied 453,326 liters of potable water for drinking and basic sanitation.

The official update also states that medical teams have treated 20,909 patients requiring medical care or emergency assistance.

A force of 29,567 security personnel continues to support public safety operations and debris removal. They are working alongside 3,305 qualified international rescue specialists and 25,846 registered civilian volunteers who are assisting with humanitarian relief and logistics.
