The Daily Journal — The Venezuelan government will launch a Single Housing Registry this Saturday for families displaced by the June 24 earthquakes who remain in temporary shelters, Acting President Delcy Rodríguez announced.

According to information released by the Presidential Press Office, authorities will carry out the operation gradually across the camps established to assist displaced families.

“I want to announce that, beginning tomorrow, we will conduct the Single Housing Registry in the temporary camps, following a progressive schedule so that we can learn in detail about the housing situation of every person staying in these camps,” Rodríguez said.

Authorities will use a biometric fingerprint system to register people displaced by the disaster.

“Starting tomorrow, in an orderly manner and through the fingerprint system, we will prepare this Single Housing Registry,” she added.

According to the government, the census will collect detailed information about the housing conditions of affected families. Officials will use that data to prepare a comprehensive assessment that will support the design of reconstruction and resettlement programs.
